Check out the first exclusive gameplay demo preview look at the upcoming 007 First Light running in Glacier Engine. This new alpha footage is running in PlayStation 5 Pro, it has been provided by IO Interactive and edited by us after we played the game at Gamescom 2025 (no commentary). This new single player action adventure stealth third person shooter espionage game will remind you of Hitman and Uncharted!

First Impressions:

From what we first saw at Gamescom behind closed doors, the upcoming 007: First Light appears to be a thrilling and modern take on the iconic spy franchise. The demo showcased a blend of stealth, high-octane action, and gadgetry that feels both classic and contemporary. The game's visuals are particularly striking, with highly detailed environments and character models that immerse players in a believable world of espionage. In terms of gameplay, the indoor levels with their focus on stealth and creative problem-solving were reminiscent of the Hitman series. In contrast, the outdoor and driving segments, with their more action-oriented and cinematic feel, brought to mind the Uncharted series, though with an even greater emphasis on explosive action.

The game is set to be an original origin story for James Bond, portraying him as a brash, young, and inexperienced 26-year-old agent. He has not yet earned his 00 status, or his license to kill, and is described by his superiors as a "bullet without a target". The narrative follows his journey to earn that prestigious title. The demo specifically showed a mission where Bond is part of a team of fellow MI6 agents tasked with tracking down a rogue operative, 009, at a high-stakes chess tournament in the Slovakian mountains.

The game will also feature reimagined versions of classic Bond characters like M, Q, and Miss Moneypenny, all of whom are set to play a role in shaping Bond's early career. The central conflict of the story seems to be an internal affair, with 009 threatening to expose MI6 secrets. This sets up a deep conspiracy that Bond must uncover as he progresses from a rookie to a full-fledged 00 agent. We really enjoyed seeing Bond in a variety of roles, from a disgruntled chauffeur to an impulsive agent and the demo showed how he often disobeys orders to follow his instincts.

While the demo offered a tantalizing glimpse into the gameplay, what truly stood out was the game's atmosphere and narrative tone. It seems to be aiming for a more grounded and gritty feel, reminiscent of the Daniel Craig era films, while still retaining the slickness and sophistication of the Bond universe. The mission shown was tense and full of intrigue, suggesting a compelling storyline that will keep players on the edge of their seats. The voice acting and sound design were top-notch, further enhancing the cinematic experience. Overall, 007: First Light promises to be a worthy addition to the Bond legacy, and fans of the franchise have every reason to be excited about its potential.
